I graduated from Huntsville High School in Huntsville Arkansas in 2000. After that I attended Arkansas Tech University and received a Bachelar of Art in Graphic Design in 2005. I worked at The Morning News in Springdale Arkansas for 3 years. My wife and I both decided we needed a change so we took jobs as ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers in Gwangju South Korea. We lived there for two years. It was during this time I decided I wanted to teach as a career. When we returned to the U.S. I re-enrolled at Arkansas Tech University and received a second Bachelor's, this time in Art Education.

This is my second year to teach Art at Green Forest High School. I am passionate about the Visual Arts and their importance and impact on everyone. For me helping students to make those connections is detrimental in their understanding of why we teach Art in school. You may not leave my class as the next Picasso, but my hope is you will leave my class knowing why people say "the next Picasso." You may not think you can draw or paint and it's true that it comes easier to some, but we can all make Art and that's what is important.

I married my best friend Laura on September 1, 2007. My son Hugh was born on October 24, 2010 in Gwangju South Korea. So that was some extra excitement added to the usual excitement of having a first child. My family is very important to me which is something that was instilled in me by my parent and grandparent. My wife is a para professional aid at the Elementary here at Green Forest.
As I said before family is very important to me, so most of my free time is spent hanging out with them in some way. I enjoy reading, building with LEGO bricks, playing with action figures and pretending to be a superhero with my son. This works out great because these are all things I did anyway before I had a kid. I have read comic books in some capacity most of my life. I believe they are a perfect marriage of literature and the visual arts. I enjoy going to comic shops and comic conventions. I love the atmosphere and environment of a comic shop. My wife and I are both movie and TV lovers. It's hard to say what my favorite movie or genre is. I simply enjoy well told stores no matter what it's about.
